HP Inc. said Wednesday that it's acquiring gaming peripherals supplier HyperX for $425 million. HyperX is known for its gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, USB microphones and console accessories. HP sees the deal as a way to gain momentum in the PC gaming market as well as drive growth in its Personal Systems business.

"HyperX is a leader in peripherals whose technology is trusted by gamers around the world and we're thrilled to welcome their outstanding team to the HP family," said HP chief executive Enrique Lores. "We continue to advance our leadership in Personal Systems by modernizing compute experiences and expanding into valuable adjacencies. We see significant opportunities in the large and growing peripherals market, and the addition of HyperX to our portfolio will drive new sources of innovation and growth for our business.

HP-Taschendrucker soll Sofortbildkamera ersetzen
Der Sprocket Plus ist HPs Antwort auf den anhaltenden Trend der Sofortbildkameras. Er druckt Fotos vom Smartphone aus und braucht dazu keine Tinte. Die befindet sich auf dem Papier selbst.

HP hat den Sprocket Plus vorgestellt, die neue Version des portablen Fotodruckers Sprocket. Das Produkt soll im Vergleich zum Vorgänger bis zu 30 Prozent größere Fotos ausdrucken können. HP gibt auf der dazugehörigen Produktseite eine maximale Bildgröße von 5,8 x 8,7 cm an. Zum Vergleich: Ein DIN-A7-Blatt umfasst ein Achtel eines normalen A4-Druckerpapiers und misst 7,4 x 10,5 cm. Ein herkömmliches Bild aus einer Sofortbildkamera ist ohne weißen Rand etwa 7,8 x 7,6 cm groß.
