Compromise: Redefining Winning | #WinWin #Character #Ethics #Moral #Adapting | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
If you define winning as getting the upper hand, backing your opponent into a corner, and winning at any expense, you’ve got it all wrong. You may win in the short term, but think about the relationship going forward. Do those actions build trust, teamwork, and respect? I think not. You’ve probably created enough animosity, distrust, and jealousy to last a lifetime. In other words, you may have won the battle, but lost the war. There’s a better way…winning doesn’t have to be at someone’s expense.

Compromise: A Win-Win Strategy

Some people need to win at all costs because their ego won’t accept anything less. They’d rather win personally than accomplish something meaningful. Compromise isn’t a synonym for surrender; it’s a winning battle plan.

Why Hierarchy Is Outdated: The (Long Overdue) Need For Organizational Adaptability

Why Hierarchy Is Outdated: The (Long Overdue) Need For Organizational Adaptability | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Hierarchy is outdated. The age-old system originally designed by the military and adopted by corporate America has been rendered obsolete for the simple fact that it promotes irrelevance. Here’s why.

Il n'y pas qu'en France que le modèle hiérarchique montre ses limites. L'empowerment permet d'associer plus étroitement action et décision sur le terrain... comme l'auteur a pu l'expériementer dans son expérience de SEAL...

The Adaptive Learning Technology One Company Depends On

Adaptive technology for education might be the answer. The software has the potential to be a private coach with a perfect memory, able to change its courses and teaching methods to what works for you. It can be a teacher’s aid, which can track the performance and learning style of a student. The best news is that this kind of software already exists, or at least, it is being developed right now.

Personalized learning is not only about choosing the right material to introduce or review but also about being able to change the way it is taught. There is content, and then there is delivery. “We always approach learning from several angles. We allow users to switch between experiential and traditional learning so they can understand concepts deeply and from many perspectives,” says Geller.

“Beyond the main course which introduces content in order of real world usage, we also enable users to explore specific modules and areas of interest,” says Greenberg. “This lets users acquire good general vocabulary through the main course while promoting fluency in areas they really want to have deep conversations about.”

Exploring education: Project Based Learning – meaningful action … or merely activity?

Exploring education: Project Based Learning – meaningful action … or merely activity? | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

The world is awash with people and groups wishing to reform education.  Some want to go “back to basics” while others want to go “forward to the future”.

Amongst the more progressive groups there is a surprising degree of similarity in what they propose. Thus, the RSA “Opening Minds” project in the UK or the US based P21 or the Apple Classroom of Tomorrow Today all have a high degree of overlap - indeed a Venn diagram of their views would be almost a single circle.

#Teachingis Adapting

#Teachingis Adapting | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Recently the Center for Teaching Quality launched a #Teachingis campaign for teachers to tweet different visions and realities of teaching. The responses were varied and poignant. As we know, teaching is ever changing and virtually indescribable in its complexity.

I think all ten are essential skills not just for the future they're also highly relevant now Two skills are implied I would make them specific They would be self-awareness/appreciation and awareness/appreciation of others

Cool stuff. Nice to see other than technical skills, working often with high techs or engineering companies who tend to put too much focus on technical stuff. Many of these really appeal to me - but do not yet provide real job opportunities. Probably just need to be patient then...
