the education system today is focused on equality. making sure all students get the same education.but this not what what is happening. every kid is different and processes and retains information in a unique way. the system is setting us up to be a cookie cutter businessman, and is not focusing on implementing different teaching styles based on the child's strengths and weakness to ensure they retain the information. standardized test only hinder the plausibility of student progression.
There is so much wisdom in this list of education myths. from Common Core, grades, to teacher evaluation the insights are right on point! We are so wrapped in the high stakes assessment and bemoaning the state of current education that we sometimes don't look at our beliefs that are behind some of that thinking. parents and community members, as well as government decision makers have their historical experience in school as a reference point, combined with these myths, it is no wonder there is a lack of clarity around school reform and improvement.
