Gefahr für die IT-Sicherheit von Unternehmen: Die Nachrichten sind voller Meldungen über mehr oder weniger erfolgreiche Hacker-Angriffe auf Unternehmen und Behörden. Schnell entsteht dadurch der Eindruck, dass eine Gefahr vor allem von außen droht. Das Gegenteil ist jedoch der Fall.

(Quelle: IBM )„Wir sprechen viel darüber, dass Cyberattacken das Werk anonymer Profihacker sind, die mit ihrem Laptop fernab in irgendwelchen dunklen Ecken sitzen und auf eine Gelegenheit warten“, sagt der IBM-Sicherheitsexperte Gerd Rademann. „Was jedoch kaum wahrgenommen wird: Über die Hälfte der Angriffe kommen aus den eigenen Reihen oder von Dritten mit Systemzugriff – also von Insidern.“

Distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack protection solutions provider Prolexic has published its Global DDOS Attack Report for the fourth quarter ...

“The prevalence of mobile devices and the widespread availability of downloadable apps that can be used for DDoS is a game changer,” explained Stuart Scholly, president of Prolexic. 

Malicious actors now carry a powerful attack tool in the palm of their hands, which requires minimal skill to use. Because it is so easy for mobile device users to opt-in to DDoS attack campaigns, we expect to see a considerable increase in the use of these attack tools in 2014,” Scholly added.

The names, addresses, employee identification numbers (UD IDs), and social security numbers of 72,000 current and former employees, including student employees, have been stolen from the systems of the University of Delaware.
