Compromised websites have been an attractive target for cyber-criminals. These websites distribute different malwares designed to steal valuable information from the victim’s machine. McAfee has recently encountered a compromised website which distributes malicious .jar file and Fake AV.

Time for Apple users to heed a lesson Windows users have long learned the hard way: Don’t hand out your cell phone number to untrusted applications downloaded from the Web. On Tuesday, Russian antivirus firm Doctor Web reported the appearance of a new strain of Mac-focused malware that queries users for their cellphone number when they try to install a piece of legitimate software. If the user enters a phone number, he or she receives a text message asking for a reply with a registration code. Responding implicitly signs up the user for a series of recurring mobile charges to their carrier’s account. By Dancho Danchev Recently, cybercriminals spamvertised yet another massive email campaign, impersonating the world’s most popular social network – Facebook.
It was similar to a previously profiled spam campaign imitating Facebook. However, in this case the cybercriminals behind it relied on attached malicious archives, compared to including exploits and malware serving links in the email.

Thirty percent of computers in the United States are infected with some form of malware, putting America among the top 10 most malware-infected countries in the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development). If it's any consolation, South Korea has the dubious honor of topping that list with a malware infection rate of over 57 percent.

When I read this article, I didn't think it was possible for 30 percent of U.S computers were infected by some form of Malware. This is just the thing that motivates more to work on computer security.

Apple users who think they're immune to malware and other bugs need to pay attention: A new Trojan is infecting Apple computers in order to obtain victims' phone numbers and rob them via unexpected premium SMS charges.
The Trojan, which masks itself as downloadable software, presents victims with a legitimate-looking installation wizard that asks for their phone number in order to verify or authenticate the install.
