Excellent, excellent article. This just looks at a supposedly environmentally-friendly policy, replacing plastic bags with paper bags.
However, the move seems to make little environmental sense - replacing one environmental challenge with another - and the net effect is likely to be adverse, unless the paper bags are used at least four times. |

Another invention designed to reduce marine pollution -the cora ball is designed to reduce the number of microfibres entering waste water and ultimately our oceans. It is one of a number of innovations looking to reduce this form of pollution.

Waitrose acts to cut single use plastic bags, reduce waste and imply that its corporate objectives are more environmentally-friendly.

Marine pollution is a hot topic - and this article cites a Surfers Against Sewage survey that identifies the 'biggest polluters' of Britain's beaches.
Of course, the companies will argue that it is the consumers that are the polluters, not them; however, it might give them more of an imperative to invest in more environmentally-friendly packaging.
