An application was heard in the Supreme Court to implement a system that generates a Document Identification Number (DIN) electronically (digitally) for all communication between state tax officers and taxpayers. Through Adv Charu Mathur, CA Pradeep Goyal approached the Supreme Court requesting specific directions regarding the generation of document identification numbers (DINs) for all communications distributed through state GST officers. As per public records, only two states, Karnataka and Kerala, have proper DIN systems, according to the same.
