I receive countless calls from people who come to me to ask this question. Of course, my philosophy is to ask the right questions to help them to make the right decision for them, their family, and their career.
One thing that I am certain of...if someone makes a career decision for money alone -- it is usually the wrong decision.

Excellent advice!
Planning as early as high school in regards to what industries are growing, and what experience, projects, and skills will be needed to land the first job in your career path.
Starting early to apply to the employers who offer internships in your industry, and in your area of expertise.
All excellent tips. The time you invest for planning now will springboard you years ahead of the competition. Education provides additional tools in your toolbox; however, you have to use the tools and drive your career. The tools will not do the driving for you.

Many of us get so caught up in day-to-day work that we lose sight of whether we're on the right path. Do you enjoy going to work every day? Are you stimulated by what you do? Are you making enough to live the way you want and save for the future?
Nice reminder!
Throughout our careers we need to be consistently asking ourselves:
1. Where am I now? (In relation to my career goal & next career ladder step)
2. Where do I want to be? What does success look like? Why is it important to me?
3. How do I get there? Am I taking steps in the right direction?
Asking these questions have helped me stay on track and risk getting derailed from achieving my goals.
