Cool app!

Jennifer Colin's curator insight, October 24, 2015 1:39 PM

As a school that has recently acquired Chromebooks, we are constantly looking for apps that teachers can use in their classrooms. Kids Sight Words offers one such quality app.  Kids Sight Words would be especially beneficial for our elementary reading specialist. It's no secret that tasks in the form of games are more appealing to children, and this colorful and interactive app is a great method for helping kids improve reading fluency, which is a foundational skill for success in the rest of students' educational careers.  I will be sure to make our elementary technology teacher and reading specialist aware of this fun (and free?) application.

40 Simple Ways to Inspire Learning with Mobile Devices | Android and iPad apps for language teachers | Scoop.it

For iPads, chromebooks and laptops.

Acclaimed author Sam Gliksman will show you “40 Simple Ways” to engage your students with creative projects - whether you’re a new teacher or experienced educator, whether you teach younger or older children, and whether you have one device or many.

But this isn’t a book about devices. It’s about using those devices to create a culture of passionate learning in the classroom. Create exciting green screen videos, compose multimedia eBooks, produce old-time radio shows, document and explain experiments and much more. All of the projects come with precise step-by-step instructions, tips and a list of recommended apps for iPads, smartphones, and Chromebooks. Many projects also include detailed instructional videos that make it easy to get started right away.
