Taste of Belize Coming to Cayo

The Taste of Belize will be coming to Cayo this year! It'll be at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel on December 1st, and the new Cayo Welcome Center on December 2nd. The Belize Tourism Board is calling on all chefs, bartenders, and BBQ masters to join in the celebration of Belize. Contact Perry Bodden at 247-2420 for more information.

"Imagine standing mere inches away from flaring and sizzling Belizean culinary masterpieces, simmering to perfection. Surrender to the enticing aromas as it hypnotizes each of your senses-we invite you to experience ALL this and more at the anticipated, 'Taste of Belize'...

Flavors of Belize

The Flavors of Belize cookbook is out! You can find it for sale, and it will be on all the major channels this week. It'll be on Love TV tomorrow morning at 8:30, and Open Your Eyes on Friday morning at 6:30. There are over 120 Belizean recipes in it.

You Too Can Eat Like Royalty in Belize

Salbutes, panades, and garnaches are the food of kings! Thanks go out to Ambergris Today for a great article on Belizean food, and the amazing diversity of it.

"One Belizean platter that definitely transcends all cultures in our beautiful country of ours has to be the Rice and Beans. I read somewhere that to truly sound like a local, you would have to say it on one word: “riceandbeanschickenandsalad”. The iconic Belizean dish - coconut white rice and red kidney beans served with stewed chicken and chunky potato salad and fried ripe plantains."

Flavors of Belize Exhibit

The Flavors of Belize exhibit is currently at the Image Factory. The Flavors of Belize cookbook had their big launch over the Summer, and now the exhibit will be on display until the end of September. Here are pictures and video from the opening ealier this week, where they got to interview Tanya Mcnab, the creator, along with the curator of the Image Factory. Hopefully it'll come to Cayo soon.

"Tuesday Sept. 4th, 2012, Flavors of Belize opened a new exhibition at the Image Factory Art Foundation, dedicated entirely to local cuisine. This exhibit showcases the cultures that have shaped the creation of Belizean Food throughout the years. The exhibition is open from Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00 pm throughout the entire month of September. Please be sure stop by and check it out."

Flayva's Restaurant Pictures

Flayva's has made a great name for itself, along with some amazing food. They've gotten some great reviews on Trip Advisor. They are a staple of Cayo's Burns avenue, creating some great Belizean food. Destiny Tours is located right inside too.
