Gaia Lodge, formerly Five Sisters Lodge, has new owners, and has gotten a serious refurbishment. They've really done a great job remodeling the main entry, bar, and restaurant palapa. They have an outstanding collection of masks. It's located in Mountain Pine Ridge, just down the lane from Big Rock Falls.

While many pictures are of a family's vacation around Cayo, there are some really great pictures of the Belize Zoo, and Five Sisters Lodge. Five Sisters gets a great review, and you can see the falls there in detail too. Xunantunich pictures are also in there.
"On to our fabulous hotel, the Five Sisters, in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve where we swam in the falls and enjoyed the cooler mountain climate. I was enthralled by how happily the pines and palms intermingled. It was sensational to see fire flies zipping through the bromeliad clad pine trees. And the smell! A mix of pine and vanilla orchids and plumeria. Heavenly. Have I mentioned that you simply must visit Belize?"

Five Sisters has been upgraded, and now has a new name, Gaia Riverlodge. Gaia Riverlodge is located in the Mountain Pine Ridge area, near the Chiquibul Forest Reserve, and right next to Big Rock Falls. It's considered to be the new sister property of the Matachica Resort and Spa.
"The eco-resort property has seen upgrades to its 16 cabanas, which now have hardwood floors, bathrooms with hand-painted Mexican tiles and panoramic windows or private verandas."

Five Sisters was bought recently. We like the description: "Set on the banks of the white-water Privassion River, Five Sisters Lodge offers sanctuary and peace in a remarkable setting surrounded by the five majestic waterfalls that inspired its name.
