Explorer Series: Belizean Cowboy Santiago Juan

Explorer Series: Belizean Cowboy Santiago Juan | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Ka'ana has started their Explorer Series, and they interviewed Santiago, owner of Hanna Stables.  Fascinating gentleman, and if you've ridden with him, you know that he is a true caballero.  If you haven't, then it's more than worth riding to Xunantunich with him.

"A fantastic tour guide and owner of Hanna’s Stables, Santiago is an expert at giving visitors a truly incredible experience in the jungles of Cayo!"

Hanna Stables New Website

Hanna Stables New Website | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Hanna Stables has a great new website to go with their new high ranking on Trip Advisor.  Check it out, and if you want a great ride to Xunantunich, they are the ones to call.

"Hanna Stables is amongst the oldest horseback riding establishments in Belize, and it is part of a larger network that includes Nabitunich accommodations and the 400 acre San Lorenzo Farms.  All of the properties have been in the Juan family for four generations. Santiago Juan is currently the head operator of the properties.  We are happy to provide all guests to Belize with ample horseback riding tours  of nearby Mayan ruins at Hanna Stables as well as comfortable overnight accommodations at Nabitunich cottages and educational opportunities at San Lorenzo Farms."

Belize Ag Report - Issue 38

Belize Ag Report - Issue 38 | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The latest issue of the Belize Ag Report is out.  It's an easy to read site now.  Santiago Juan wrote an article about Breadfruit.

"Belize has been blessed with edible landscapes. Take breadfruit, or masapan in Spanish, for example. In Belize you can see breadfruit growing in all our districts. In both northern districts you see old trees still producing well in very calcareous soils; in southern Belize large trees can be seen in low lying areas and brackish water like in Hopkins Village or along the Sittee River, a testament to the great adaptation ability of this humble plant. Most Belizeans have eaten breadfruit at least once in their lifetime; yet it is probably the most underutilized crop growing in Belize. Nowadays, it is attracting the attention of gourmets and some Caribbean countries are making small shipments to the United States, Canada and Europe for specialized ethnic markets. Breadfruit has great potential in Belize serving the growing market for visitors to our country who are gluten intolerant, vegetarian or vegan."

This poster is the perfect example of providing information to the public. It's straight to the point, has a clear message, and motivates the public to do the right thing for their animals. I am truly proud of the HS for branching out and creating a powerful reputation. Bravo!
