The Cayo branch of the Belize Cancer Society is having their annual Cancer Walk this Saturday, starting at 5:00am, and it runs from Running W to the Macal River Park. 

"Registration for Cancer Walk can be done at BFLA office infront of Sacred Heart Church Mondays, Wednesday or Fridays or at JK Biomedical behind Courts building during normal working hours.  Registration can also be done the morning of the walk. Registration fee is $5.00."

The Belize Cancer Society is having their 1st annual Father's Day Gala at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel this Saturday.  The Jade Band will be playing at the event.

The Belize Cancer Society will be having a Cancer Forum tonight at the National Heritage Library, starting at 6:00pm.  Increase your knowledge of cancer, ways to avoid it, and how to mitigate it.  Have a healthy life!

The Belize Cancer Society's annual Cancer Walk is happening tomorrow morning.  It will start at Camalote, and end at the DFC in Belmopan..

The San Ignacio Branch of the Belize Cancer Society has teamed up with the San Ignacio Community Hospital to wipe out cervical cancer, and they are going around Cayo to do pap tests.  They'll be in San Antonio tomorrow, Bullet Tree on Wednesday, March 19th, and Georgeville on Friday, March 21st.  Thanks, BCS!

The SISE House of Culture teamed up with the Cayo branch of the Belize Cancer Society teamed up Saturday to bring out Lucio and the New Generation to play at the Cayo Welcome Center.  Emmanuel Mangar also played some.  Thanks go out to Joseph Freight for sponsoring the event.  It was another fun night at the Cayo Welcome Center.

Feelgood news of the day.  The San Ignacio branch of the Belize Cancer Society had a very successful Cancer Walk, and they have the pictures to prove it.

"On Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 our branch had its first Cancer Walk.  It was beautifully attended and the support of the community and local businesses was incredible.  We are extremely thankful to Windy Hills Resort, San Ignacio Hotel, Belize Electric Company Ltd., Santiago Castillo Ltd., Oasis of Blessings Church, Ms. Dolores Balona and Bowen and Bowen Ltd. for providing snacks and drinks to our walkers.  To Guerra's Bus Service for generously picking up and taking back walkers starting from Benque Viejo del Carmen Town.  To the San Ignacio Police Department for lending us their support and participating in the walk as well.  To Sacred Hear Jr. College for dressing in "Pink" and supporting the Breast Cancer Pink Movement.  And last but not least to the dynamic, hard-working committee of the Belize Cancer Society - San Ignacio Branch - we did great but as we all know our work is just beginning!!"

The San Ignacio branch of the Belize Cancer Society paid a visit to Sacred Heart Junior College to educate them about cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

SHJC will be a big participator in the Cancer Walk that will start in Esperanza at 5:00am this Saturday.

"Thank you to Dr. Marvin Manzanero for taking time out to join us in educating the students of Sacred Heart Junior College (SHJC) about cervical cancer, prostate cancer and healthy sexual practices.  It was indeed a very informative and pleasant afternoon spent in the company of young adults.  At the end of the session the president of SHJC student council presented our branch with a cash donation from a fund raiser they had conducted on our behalf.  Thank You SHJC for your support towards the Belize Cancer Society - San Ignacio Branch."

The San Ignacio branch of the Belize Cancer Society is having its first event in Cayo.  This Saturday, May 11th, at 9am, at the Cayo Welcome Center, they'll be having their Open Day.  There will be information booths, medical professionals, and BFLA reps there to answer questions.

The San Ignacio branch of the Belize Cancer Society is having their 2nd annual Father's Day Gala fundraiser.  It'll be at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel's Bedran Hall, so you know the food will be superb.  The New Sensation Band will be providing the entertainment.  

It's Father's Day this Sunday, and St. Martin's Credit Union is celebrating dads tomorrow morning.  They'll have snacks and drinks, and some musical entertainment too.  Many places around town are having dinner specials to honor dads, including the San Ignacio Resort Hotel and Maya Mountain Lodge.

Tomorrow night, Tabu is having a Grads and Dads bash.  Sunday, Pandy is having a Father's Day Bash at the Cayo Welcome Center at 7:00pm.  Next week, the Belize Cancer Society is having a bash at the Bedran Hall for the occasion, and the Jade Band will be playing.

The Belize Cancer Society worked with SHJC students to get the word out at the SHJC Marketing Expo.

"The Belize Cancer Society - San Ignacio Branch extends a sincere and hearty congratulations to the students of SHJC for all the effort they placed in promoting health and cancer education during their Expo held on April 30th 2014. Our Branch is very much looking forward to receiving all the information and material created by the students in order for us to promote it and use it in our educational campaigns.  May is a month set aside for education and awareness and we look forward to showcasing this excellent material on our Face Book page on a daily basis."

Sacred Heart Junior College had 3 days of fundraisers, from Monday to Wednesday, for the San Ignacio Cancer Society.  They had bake sales, ribbon sales, a donation day, and a 'color your hair' fundraiser.  SHC raised $1,000, and it was presented to the Cancer Society after Dr. Marvin Manzanero gave a great presentation on cancer and the benefits of early detection. 

"In an effort to promote cancer awareness and to assist cancer patients, SHJC students, faculty and staff engaged in a 3-day fundraising event that culminated with a session given by Mrs. Flora Usher - President of the Belize Cancer Society - San Ignacio Branch, and Dr. Marvin Manzanero...  The Director of Student Services presented the monies raised by faculty and staff through the different efforts carried out over the course of the 3 days.  We collected a total of $953.87 cash and our Student Gov't Association pledged the remaining $46.13 to make it a total donation of $1,000.00."

Feelgood news of the day.  The students at Bishop O.P. Martin primary school raised funds for the Belize Cancer Society. 

"A very special donation presented to our branch by the Std. V children of Bishop Martin Primary School.  It was heartwarming to hear the children's presentation on cancer and to accept their very kind and thoughtful donation."

Sacred Heart Junior College students participated in the Cayo Cancer Walk on Saturday morning.  They had a huge showing, and some great shirts made to raise funds for the event.  Thanks, SHJC!

The Belize Cancer Society has a San Ignacio Branch that's been opened since March, 2013.  It's located at the BFLA office on Church street.  Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, they are having their 'Paint Belize Pink' campaign to increase awareness.  They are also having a Cancer Walk from Esperanza to San Ignacio on the morning of the 26th.
