There are so many different tools and tips that make online learning more successful. Students and teachers can communicate and collaborate with one another simultaneously. Teachers can publish and share videos and presentations for all learners to view.Â

This article tells us about some of the words we can use and substitute to motivate students during online classes. For example, when they have a workshop or taks, you can tell them what steps they should take to get a good grade, give them options, rather than imposing what they should do. They are likely to be motivated to follow those steps to get the best job. That students are not forced but committed. Try to change phrases like the following:
- Instead of "I expect you all to...," try "Your next challenge is... - Instead of "I want you to...," try "What's a goal you have... - Move From Teacher Ownership to Student Ownership Instead of "Here are three things you need to do...," try "Here are three things to try as you... - Instead of "I've created some choices for you...," try "You have several choices to consider..." Language has a lot of power, and by making these small changes in the expressions we use we can get great results. The way we address our students also has a great impact on them, even though sometimes we don't realize!

I found this article very relevant as it provides teachers with some techniques to motivate students who are involved in virtual activities. It states the importance of developing students' ownership and going from extrinsic motivation to an intrinsic one(Richards and Rodgers, 2001), which can be key in the learning process and its success.

Right now, I am struggling with creating interactive virtual lessons/PD. I'm sure I am not the only one. This article from Matt Miller has a plethora of Google resources on how to create Digital Escape Rooms. Matt has curated 30+ escape rooms for you to copy and make into your own. He also provides step by step instructions on how to create your own escape room. There is nothing that says that virtual learning has to be boring. Creating these digital escape rooms adds a certain flair to a lesson that allows the students to really take control of their own learning.

With the new school year, teachers all over the world are faced with creating relationships with students they've never met. We must get creative and find ways to connect at a distance.

This article was a great find! I will definitely be sharing with my colleagues and revisiting myself as the year continues. I am for sure teaching digitally until Oct. 19th and will be implementing several of the ideas suggested here. To see that I was already doing some of them (simple things like saying their names) made me feel good about the route I have been taking this school year.

Students repoinses are an excellent way for a teacher to check for understanding. One program that the articles mentions is the use of flipgrid in the classroom. This program allows for students create reponses to topics and personalize it at the same time. Flipgrid is easy to use and will definietly have students engaged.

There are so many avenues to blended learning. Flipgrid is a digital tool, that allows educators to challenge their students to express their understanding of material verbally. There are endless possibilities for using Flipgrid in the classroom. It is an amazing way to get emergent bilingual students to practice using their academic vocabulary.

I was introduced to Flipgrid when distance learning first started. This platform is beginner friendly and can be easy to navigate. This was important because I needed parents to guide their children through activities that I would post for them during the pandemic. It also allows them to record videos and comment on each other's videos to communicate and receive feedback.Â
