Fifty-seven percent of respondents to PayScale’s Salary Survey said that they’d never negotiated salary in their current field. Why? Because they’re scared, mostly. While only 8 percent reported being afraid of losing their job, 19 percent said they didn’t want to seem pushy. Twenty-eight percent said they felt uncomfortable negotiating salary, period.
