Patients with learning disabilities become ‘invisible’ in hospitals, says study

Hospital patients with learning disabilities face longer waits and mismanaged treatment due to a failure to understand them by nursing staff, says a new report.

People with learning disabilities are not getting the proper treatment in hospitals, due to the lack of knowledge and understandment by the staff. Staffs are unclear on how to proceed in certain situations unfortunately causing patients with learning disabilities to pay the price. This is a study funded by the National Institute for Health Research Health Services and Delivery Research Programme.
