Flambeau repris par Axelle Lemaire et Emmanuel Macron, avec les encouragements de François Hollande. Ils se sont efforcés de promouvoir les start-up, mais aussi de rendre la fiscalité et les réglementations plus hospitalières.

As an example, John Chambers has on numerous occasions mentioned that he saw huge potential in the French startup ecosystem; for example, in a Fortune article.I expect that we will see the spirit of startup go beyond tech, and enter other industries where France has real knowledge, like food and fashion.
Perhaps it was only a matter of time before Twitter actually started working with real, live birds. The company with a bird logo that gave us the “tweet” has partnered with Plume Labs of Paris and DigitasLBi to launch a flock of Internet-connected pigeons to monitor air pollution in London. Plume Labs is an IOT company that uses a network of sensors around the world to deliver targeted pollution reports to people’s smartphones. DigitasLBi is a global marketing and technology agency. Yesterday was the first of three days during which the group plans to launch a team of 10 pigeons wearing small pollution-monitoring backpacks. The sensors were specially designed by Plume Labs and are stuffed in small vests that are placed on the pigeons. The sensors are able to monitor levels of nitrogen dioxide and ozone, the two main ingredients in urban air pollution, according to a press release from Plume. The results of the “Pigeon Air Patrol” are posted directly onto the project’s Twitter account. Residents can also follow the birds on the Pigeon Patrol website, which will also show their location.
Email has long been the scourge of many office places, with inboxes often resembling warzones of unread messages, stars and tags, missing attachments, and all around chaos around next steps for each item. These problems are only exacerbated when multiple people are included on an email chain. Front is a shared inbox and collaboration platform for enterprise email that looks to solve many of these problems. Today, the Summer 2014 Y Combinator grad announced $3.1 million in Seed funding in a round led by SoftTech VC, with participation from BOLDStart, Point Nine Capital and Caffeinated Capital. The formerly Parisian company is now permanently headquartered in the Bay Area. “Email is great, but it was invented for one-to-one communication,” says Front co-founder and CEO Mathilde Collin. “Unfortunately, email is regularly used for one-to-many, and many-to-one communication. We wanted to make email useful again for companies.”

Here is the slide deck I used for my Keynote at the &Connected TV & Digital Media& forum where I was invited by Connectica Lab in Moscow on March 5th, 2014. Due to current SlideShare limitations it is impossible to directly import slides in the latest Apple Keynote format, hence the need to manually publish here the keynote verbatim to complement the slides. .../... TV has evolved significantly. First came color. Then came choice. Then came the VCR that allowed recording, deferred viewing, and introduced external content (either purchased, rented, or handed out by friends and family) into the TV set.
Then came digital content and digital broadcast, followed by HD.
And only very recently came competition from other screens to consume video content: not only were they personal, they follow the viewer... We now spend a full five hours and 16 minutes a day in front of a screen, and that's without even turning on a television (4,5 hours a day for US adults). - What even does TV watching now mean? - is TV video delivered in real time ? - is Connected TV is just TV with Ethernet and firmware updates?

U.S. startups have traditionally had access to far higher levels of investment, giving them a head start when it comes to research and development and making it easier to attract to its shores the very best talent. Yet the arms race is becoming closer. According to Dow-Jones VentureSource, the second quarter of 2014 saw over €2.1 billion ($2.4 billion at the current conversion rate) raised by European startups — the highest quarterly total since 2001. (For comparison’s sake, the figure for U.S.-based startups in that period was $13.8 billion.) Encouraged by the success of European tech firms such as Shazam and Transferwise — both of which made valuations of billion dollars in early 2015 — more U.S. money is crossing the pond. There is also an increasing confidence in investors that Europe has the talent pool to thrive, and there has not been an irreparable “brain drain” to Silicon Valley.
Startup Assembly est une initiative pour démocratiser la culture de l'innovation et de l'entrepreneuriat auprès du plus grand nombre. Son initiateur Marc-Arthur Gauthey, 28 ans, entrepreneur et membre du collectif Ouishare, estime qu'il y a tout à inventer. Et que ce serait dommage de s'en priver. Tout autour de moi, j'observe des gens pour qui le monde change trop vite, emportant dans son mouvement les valeurs, les normes et les principes qui ont, jusque là, été le ciment de notre société. Voilà pourquoi le repli sur soi et la préférence nationale séduisent tant de nos citoyens : ceux qui se sentent laissés pour compte ont avant tout peur d'une époque qu'ils ne comprennent pas. Hors du petit monde des acteurs du numérique et des nouvelles technologies majoritairement jeunes, diplômés, masculins, citadins et ouverts sur le monde, une nouvelle fracture se dessine : la fracture entrepreneuriale. Elle est à la fois sociale, territoriale, générationnelle et sectorielle.
Lorsqu'on lui a parlé pour la première fois du FlyLab, Gilles Babinet avoue avoir au début été plutôt sceptique : comment un fablab, aussi sophistiqué qu’il fût, pouvait parvenir à créer des produits d’aussi haute technologie que des drones, principalement à usage professionnel ? C’est pourtant le challenge que relève brillamment Hakim Amrani Montanelli et son FlyLab. En s’appuyant sur un ensemble de technologies open source et open hardware, il peut fabriquer toutes les parties d’un drone, et en abaisse drastiquement le prix, parfois d’un facteur 20. L’ensemble des éléments logiciels sont évidemment libres, le micro-contrôleur est basé sur une plateforme Arduino - opensource -, tandis que la structure principale est réalisée en impression 3D. Même des pièces de haute technologie, comme l’étage haute fréquence, les moteurs électriques et les antennes HF peuvent être fabriqués par le Flylab. Pour l’instant, seules les hélices - qui sont injectées à haute pression pour disposer de la précision suffisante - sont produites à l’extérieur du FlyLab.
