The Digital Marketing Trio Of 2013 [Infographic] | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it

Digital marketing has become one of the most focused on streams of marketing in the last few years. Three of the biggest digital marketing issues include social network marketing, mobile, SMS marketing, and content marketing. Here’s a brief look at each:

Social Network Marketing

As a marketing, you can rely on social media to connect, engage, and build relationships with current and potential customers.

Mobile / SMS Marketing

Mobile marketing is a term that covers several different methods of marketing through mobile devices. Mobile marketing can take several different shapes but one of the most popular is SMS marketing.

Content Marketing

Content marketing is the development of interesting and helpful materials to engage customers and clients. Examples of content can be blogs, infographics, online tools, YouTube videos etc.

This infographic displays some eye-opening statistics about these 3 digital marketing streams and might get you thinking more about including these streams into your marketing mix.

Social’s on the move. Welcome to the city hall that never sleeps—where people are more likely to tweet about a pothole or support bike lanes on Facebook than go to a city council meeting.

City governments that want to keep a finger on the pulse of their transit arteries don’t need an invitation. They just need to know how to listen, which will help them figure out the life of the connected commuter, as depicted in our graphic with IBM.

How Are We Using Social Media? [INFOGRAPHIC] | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it

Did you know that between 2011 and 2012, time spent on social media increased by some 30 billion minutes, representing a year-on-year increase of 37 percent?

But, according to one study, while Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest remain popular with users aged 30 and over, it’s the formerly niche social platforms such as Reddit, Github and DeviantArt that can boast the highest representation amongst the important 18-29 demographic.

Digital agency iAcquire partnered with SurveyMonkey to track the behaviour of social media users, presenting their key findings in this infographic...

And to get a gauge on how likely they are to happen, we asked the special bets department at British betting firm Ladbrokes to give us their odds on each prediction coming true.

Why Infographics Rule: Marketing & online resources

Why Infographics Rule: Marketing & online resources | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it

Humans are visual creatures.

Most of us process information based on what we see and 65 percent of us are considered visual learners.

Social media has created this intense desire and opportunity to share what we learn. Most of us enjoy sharing ideas, especially when there’s a video or a photograph or drawing.

Sure, we’ll share something that’s written: a blog post or tweet or status update, but how many times have you heard of one of those going viral? Mostly, you hear about funny or compelling photos or videos catching fire.

If you can’t create one of those, then you  may want to look into creating an infographic...

How Technology is Shaping the Future of Education

Via Ana Cristina Pratas
Angélica Osorio Castillo's curator insight, March 1, 2020 4:25 PM
As future teachers, it is necessary to recognize that technology is a fabulous tool if we learn how to use it correctly with our students. We can work together with technology when we assign to our students' homework that requires the use of computers or cellphones; however, to take advantage in full of technology, we will need to learn how to prepare and assign homework with applications that are very useful and dynamic. Technology has transformed almost every aspect of our lives, and we know that education needs an update. Going to class is essential for children so they can learn to socialize and work in groups, that is why we will need to prepare our classes in a different way than the traditional ones, so our students can enjoy going to classes instead of staying at home and learning online.
Susan Myburgh's comment, March 1, 2020 9:25 PM
I agree completely. People who are barely functionally literate, who cannot read, write nor comprehend with any degree of sophistication; people who are too easily swayed by the media and politicians.

Crafting an Infographic narrative

Crafting an Infographic narrative | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it
Crafting an infographic narrative is an art. We detail the five elements of an editorial infographic's narrative and what each element aims to accomplish.

The best infographics are created when a story comes first. In a completed piece, every data point, piece of copy, and design element should support that story. This does not mean, however, that the story an individual or organization wants to tell will intuitively translate to the infographic medium.

Even in instances where all information and data exists on paper, the story may still require adaptation—crafting an infographic narrative to effectively communicate the story. While specific needs vary across applications of infographics, for editorial pieces, this process typically involves writing titles, introductory paragraphs, callouts, and conclusions—the pieces that weave the story together.

It has become clear that social media is turning into quite the process. It’s becoming more and more important, so many different tools and advice columns keep popping up to help businesses and individuals stay organized and successful when it comes to this newer marketing effort. This has caused many companies to create a full-time social media position for experts to help manage the many social accounts, follow analytics, get creative with engagement, etc. It takes a lot of time and effort, but the payoff is only increasing as social involvement increase.

10 Tips To Build A Responsive Website [Infographic] | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it

Want your website to look great on smartphones, tablets, PCs and even TVs? Learn how to go fully responsive.

The Web and the mobile browsers remain one of the top ways that users interact with websites and if they have trouble on their smartphone, there is a good chance they are not coming back.

That’s where responsive design can help.

Responsive design is a concept where you build your website once and then format it so it can adapt to any screen size that accesses it. Designers use HTML5 and CSS to build the sites and set parameters so the content will resize itself whether the user is in vertical or horizontal viewing mode, on a tablet, desktop or smartphone or even a screen as large as a television...

How and Why Social Engineering Works [Infographic] | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it

For many people in today’s world, being “online” has become a constant status. High-speed internet, smart phones and tablet PC’s have enabled us to stay connected whenever and wherever we are.

Social hackers capitalize on vulnerabilities when it comes to keeping personal details private, and the problem has only seemed to get worse as the digital age has developed.

Techniques as simple as looking over a shoulder as someone enters bank details or passwords are often used, as well as sending out deceiving emails ridden with malware and viruses that can take control of your computer. Hackers pose as a trusted entity in email blasts that utilize mind tricks to get the viewer to click on the link that will trigger the infection of your computer.

Everyone with an internet connection is vulnerable, and public awareness is the first step in ending this growing problem...
