Snapchat Publishes New Research on Gen Z, and How Brands Can Connect with Them

Snapchat Publishes New Research on Gen Z, and How Brands Can Connect with Them | Distance Learning, mLearning, Digital Education, Technology | Scoop.it
Snapchat has published two new reports on the habits, behaviors and key social media usage trends among Generation Z users.
Ella Goetze's curator insight, June 17, 2019 8:37 PM
I love social media don't get me wrong but these percentages/stats freak me out. It says that 55% of gen Z are more creative online then outside experiences...that should not be the case. People should be able to express themselves creatively not on the internet too. It also shows that 49% of gen Z turns to social media for creative ideas rather then talking with other individuals and bouncing ideas off of others. This is crazy, what has the world come to. We need to take in life through the outside world rather then just turning to the internet all the time. The internet and social media can be misread very often rather face to face communication cannot. Like I said social media and the internet are great but they definitely have their cons.

Study: Snapchat and Instagram are the worst for young people

Study: Snapchat and Instagram are the worst for young people | Distance Learning, mLearning, Digital Education, Technology | Scoop.it

A new study lends credence to what you’ve probably always suspected: social media is having a pretty negative effect on teenagers — Instagram and Snapchat being the worst culprits. The study, published today and called “Status of Mind,” was conducted by researchers for the Royal Society for Public Health in the UK. The researchers surveyed 1,479 British youths ages 14-24, asking them how they felt the different social media networks effected their mental health. They took in several factors such as body image, sleep deprivation, bullying, and self-identity.

The results suggest the two worst social media networks for kids are Instagram and Snapchat, as they had terrible scores for body image, bullying, and anxiety. Twitter and Facebook weren’t much better, though. YouTube was the only one that apparently inspired more positive feelings than negative ones.

How to Use Snapchat: A Detailed Look Into HubSpot’s Snapchat Strategy

How to Use Snapchat: A Detailed Look Into HubSpot’s Snapchat Strategy | Distance Learning, mLearning, Digital Education, Technology | Scoop.it

Snapchat is now known as a platform for individuals and brands -- one that allows users to create quick, lighthearted, and even educational video content without using valuable production resources. For brands, this means a new opportunity to show off their culture, share knowledge, and connect with their audience in a new and exciting way.

After reporting more than 100 million daily active users, and over 8 billion video views a day, we decided to give it a go: The official HubSpot Snapchat account launched in March 2016. And while we're still getting our feet wet, we've already learned a lot about executing and iterating a successful Snapchat business strategy.

To help you get started, we've detailed everything we've learned (so far) below. We'll start by going over the basics -- how to set up an account, create a Snap, leverage effects, etc. -- and jump into some tips after that. ...
