How to Make Live Video Work Even If You Hate Being on Camera

How to Make Live Video Work Even If You Hate Being on Camera | Distance Learning, mLearning, Digital Education, Technology | Scoop.it

Live video marketing is one of the hottest trends in the industry right now.

Video marketing has been popular for a while now, but recently there’s been a move to live streaming.

There’s something about the immediacy of live video that people just can’t get enough up. Being part of a live stream feels like you’re in an exclusive club.

Brands like NFL and Dunkin’ Donuts have used live streaming to bring fresh new content to their followers. It’s a trend for a reason. 80% of customers prefer live video to blog posts.

It’s easy to do with all the platforms like YouTube, Facebook Live, and Periscope. Other social media networks, like Snapchat and Instagram, have also added live video functionality.

There’s only one problem: Live video is scary.

Dial up the Dynamics: Learning Out Loud: Make Online Courses Meaningful and Accessible

Dial up the Dynamics: Learning Out Loud: Make Online Courses Meaningful and Accessible | Distance Learning, mLearning, Digital Education, Technology | Scoop.it
Developing critical listening and speaking skills is an essential element of a student's higher-education experience. However, verbally presenting one's ideas and listening to contributions made by student peers are not typical experiences for online students, as most activities in online classes consist of reading and writing. As online course offerings increase, institutions have an obligation to ensure faculty are empowered to teach with tools that enable students to learn out loud. These tools and the content created with them must be accessible to all learners, including those who are hard of hearing and have vision impairments.

Free Digital Teleprompters to Assist with Video Recording - TechieTeacher | Distance Learning, mLearning, Digital Education, Technology | Scoop.it
Having students create videos about topics they are studying is one of my favorite activities. It involves research, communication, collaboration, organization and planning. If you have never witnessed children video taping each other, brace yourself. Often times it can be painful to endure because they frequently "mess up" or "forget what to say". But let's be real. WE adults do the same exact thing! To help ease the video taping frustrations for everyone, I have compiled a short list of FREE digital teleprompters your students or YOU could use when recording a video.

What is a green screen?
In film and video, a green background can be placed behind subjects being filmed. This allows a separately-filmed background to be added to the final video. Using a green screen is a fun way to enhance any video project. Filming in front of a green screen allows any project to be virtually transported to a new location or setting.

Why use a green screen?
There are many green-screen film projects that can enhance learning in the classroom. Using a green screen can make projects more fun, interesting, and effective. For example:
Jim Lerman's curator insight, March 13, 2016 9:40 AM

Back in the 90's I had a green screen system and video editing equipment in my middle school Language and Technology classroom at Kingsbury Middle School at Lake Tahoe. Thanks to a very generous 10 k grant from Bill Cosby I put together a video studio that mesmerized by students. We had great, pre-digital equipment. Teachers today can put together a better system than I had for a 1/10th the price. 8-) Thank you Moore's Law!
