Mobile Marketing Can Change Your Business

Mobile Marketing Can Change Your Business | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

I mentioned at the beginning of the article that mobile marketing will be a game-changer akin to other major shifts in marketing in the past decades. But you might wonder why. Let’s look at some statistics. In 2013, according to reports by  comScore and Nielsen, users were spending 40% of their internet time on mobile devices. And at the end of 2009, Morgan Stanley made a prediction that in five years, internet users would prefer mobile devices to desktops to access the web. Unsurprisingly, these predictions turned out to be correct. And it seems that things are looking ever-brighter for those hoping to use mobile marketing.

Comprehensive reports show that the trend is ever increasing, so much so that in 2015 alone, mobile phone internet traffic increased by 39%. And in January 2015, web-pages served to mobile phones comprised a third of all served pages. This means that mobile advertising must have grown also. And it has.

To put things into perspective, in 2009, internet advertising grew by 9%, while more traditional forms like newspapers, radio and TV went down 18.7%, 11.7% and 10.1% respectively. Billions of dollars go into mobile advertising every year and by 2017, experts foresee that mobile ad spending will reach just shy of $60 billion worldwide....

The mobile shift has happened, and the thumb is in charge. For the second post in a series examining what this means for brands, Kelly Graziadei, Facebook’s Direct Response Product Marketing Director, spoke to Helen Crossley, Facebook IQ’s Head of Consumer Insights Research, about 3 of the most common questions marketers ask about how to succeed in mobile commerce...

However, leveraging Twitter for this purpose requires a different strategy than someone would typically use for engagement.

There are clear rewards for businesses that make good-faith efforts to engage current and prospective customers through social media. Not only have we witnessed growing interest in Twitter as a platform for customer service and product support, more recently, conversations related to the role of social media in B2B marketing have also included Twitter. How Hyperlocal Advertising Changes Everything

How Hyperlocal Advertising Changes Everything | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

One of 2014’s biggest trends is the rise of hyperlocal advertising. Hyperlocal, as it’s called in ad tech circles, allows marketers to use a smartphone’s GPS data to geographically target audiences for the purpose of delivering relevant ads.

When you combine this with the ability to purchase ad impressions individually, through programmatic ad platforms that are powered by real-time bidding, marketers now have a cost-effective way to engage their audiences in a manner that matches ads to the context of their physical location....

‘When searching for great local restaurants, they want places to eat right there on the results page, not another click or two away. It’s the same with hotels, flight options, directions and shopping’, the blog continues.

FA primer on location-based marketing on mobile.Location-based marketing blurs the line between the digital and physical world. To drive foot traffic and sales at bricks-and-mortar stores, marketers target shoppers on their devices.

To do that though, marketers need to effectively identify and utilize consumers' locations. New services are giving people a much better incentive to share where they are, while new technologies are emerging to make location-based marketing a more exact science. In a new report from BI Intelligence, we look at the three of the primary types of location-based marketing approaches: geofencing, geoconquesting, and geoaudiencing, each of which uses location somewhat differently. 8 Brands Rocking Snapchat

These are the chattiest brands on Snapchat, demonstrating that time-sensitive images can actually be a strength in brand marketing.Mobile apps such as Twitter, Vine, Instagram and Snapchat are turning traditional media marketing upside down, challenging brands in increasingly new ways. Human interactions are key to brand loyalty and building a strong consumer base, and these mobile apps allow for two-way conversations.

Snapchat, which launched in the iTunes App Store in September 2011, is popular with a much younger demographic than some marketing execs are used to, but it takes little or no cost to interact with customers by way of snaps. Compare that to other pricey forms of old-school advertising, and that’s a major plus...

Snapchat is really big today, i myself use this app with my friends. This is a great way to get a message out among many people. The Snapchat app allows you to take a picture, write a short message and draw on it. You can then select how long this picture will be viewed for and send it to select friends. Snapchat has now added another feature called "Mys story" You can make a collage of pictures that will show on someones screen for up to 24 hours, after that the pictures are gone forever. This would be a great app to work with as a PR agent.

Holiday Shopping Trends 2015: Three Predictions for Retailers

Holiday Shopping Trends 2015: Three Predictions for Retailers | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

Shopping will happen in moments, not marathons, this holiday season. Rather than relying on daylong trips to the mall or camping out overnight during Black Friday, shoppers will be turning to their mobile phones in hundreds of micro-moments, every day, all season long.

In fact, 54% of all holiday shoppers say that they plan to shop on their smartphones in spare moments throughout the day, like walking or commuting.1 These shorter mobile sessions that occur throughout the day are visible in the data: shoppers now spend 7% less time in each mobile session, yet smartphones' share of online purchases has gone up 64% over the last year. The days of "look on mobile but buy on the laptop" are changing: 30% of all online shopping purchases now happen on mobile phones.2

As we head into this year's holiday shopping season, we've taken a closer look at how the rise of micro-moments and mobile video will affect retail trends. If you're looking for holiday insights, here are three retail predictions for the 2015 shopping season, based on Google data and a survey from Ipsos MediaCT....

Seven mobile statistics that should spur digital publishers to action | IJNet | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

...What small and large digital publishers ought to learn from these figures is that the public is moving so quickly to mobile consumption of news and social sharing that they need to take action.

In this kind of environment that requires rapid shifts in tactics and strategy, small news organizations that live only on the web have an advantage. They can move faster without having to worry about generating revenue to service debt or other legacy costs.

The rise of mobile and the rise of social media sharing represent a huge opportunity for those who are ready for it. And a huge missed one for those who are not.
