Inspiring Words & Visuals that Lead to Becoming Awesome

Inspiring Words & Visuals that Lead to Becoming Awesome | Eclectic Technology | Scoop.it

"Michelangelo defines great art. He carves the human form in marble as if it is caught between breaths. Muscles glisten with sweat. Agony shows on eyebrows as taut fingers curl. Oh to live as a master like Michelangelo! We know from his own words his desire to level up...

If you’re great –good enough is never good enough. The arch enemy of greatness is our own complacency. An insatiable desire to innovate lives in the DNA of the awesome. Do you want to be awesome too? How?"

Beth Dichter's insight:

There are days when it is difficult to move forward, when frustration has taken over enthusiasm and we may question ourselves. This post is a lesson in inspiration (at least for me) and provides great quotes and images that lead one to think again about how to handle the difficult situations we find ourselves in, be in the classroom or out of the classroom.

The post provides 8 suggestions, and each is followed by a quote and/or visual. Each is also followed by a question.

What are the suggestions? Three are listed below.

* Decide to Level Up. And the question is....What is one new thing I can learn today?

* Take Time to Read. And the question is...What is the last book I read?

* Seek inspiration. And the question is....Where do I struggle to be inspired? How can I inject vitamin B there?

Allow yourself the time to read through this post and re-energize  your spirit. May your day be awesome!

Interesting that this inforgraphic chose to put thinking "outside of the box" inside boxes, but in general the idea is important for us to remember. When facilitating a class encourage buy in from the students, encourage them to exercise their minds and be creative!

Embrace the Struggle | Venspired Learning | Eclectic Technology | Scoop.it

"Raise the bar. Set new goals. Ask your students to do things they might not think they can do at first. Give them the freedom to get creative. To design. To solve problems. To justify their opinions. Then, they’ll turn around and out-think you. They’ll come up with ideas and solutions that you hadn’t even considered. They’ll lead you in a new direction. They’ll make you want to replan, revise, and reflect. Then you’ll feel like you are struggling. That’s when you know you’ll be growing, too. That’s called being a teacher."

It’s an extraordinary feat considering that five years ago, the 10-year-old autistic boy was non-verbal.

"When kids use ‘old school’ materials like pencils, paper, and scissors, do I tell them exactly which tool to use? Choose the 6 inch pencil for this assignment, and use the red handled scissors to cut on this line? Nope. It’d get downright exhausting to do that. When it comes to tech tools, why don’t I allow them the same freedom? Should everyone need to make a 6 slide PowerPoint show with the same transitions, or a 5 dotted line graph in Excel with 12 pt font?"
