While you may have learned the symbol for pound as a child, that sign (#) today is called a hashtag. And in the world of Social Media, it turns any word or phrase into a searchable link. Usefu glossary for using the big 5 networking sites - also gives you some handy hints. Worth looking through - especially if you plan on using Twitter for professional development - I think it is the most valuable tool I have for connecting! I'm at @prendielearning :D

It's important to note that once you post something on Facebook, or any other social network, it's no longer private, period.
While Facebook makes it fairly easy to control with whom you share information, the best way to keep your information private is to not post it anywhere in the first place.
