I thought it was an interesting question, and so I decided to reply in the form of a short blog post. I hope you enjoy my answer. The short answer is yes, active collaboration and participation can be achieved through digital tools. They allow learners to maintain a collaborative environment with their classmates or even learners located across the state, country, or world."

The classroom should be a safe place for students to test ideas and learn by trial and error. Unfortunately, when assessments are high stakes, students are less likely to take chances in their learning because they may only get one shot at getting it right on the test.

Social studies lessons through Distance Learning - Brown MS | McAllen ISD

Mr. Gil Maldonado continues to teach his social studies students thanks to Distance Learning. He adds that one of the benefits of using technology for his class now, is it will better prepare students for college. In McAllen ISD, all students have access to either an iPad or a Chromebook as a personal electronic learning device.
