Call for Chapter Authors: Microlearning in the Digital Age: The Design and Delivery of Learning in Snippets.

Call for Chapter Authors: Microlearning in the Digital Age: The Design and Delivery of Learning in Snippets. | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it

"The editors of "Microlearning in the Digital Age: The Design and Delivery of Learning in Snippets," a new book to be published by the Routledge Taylor & Francis Group in late 2020, are seeking authors interested in writing one of the two remaining unassigned chapters:

Chapter 8. Assessing the Learning in Microlearning. One of the challenges in assessing the learning in microlearning is how to assess learners’ understanding of the content without them knowing they are being assessed. Few people would be enthusiastic about having to take a quiz in the middle of a YouTube video while learning how to change a tire. This chapter will describe creative ways to embed assessments into microlearning objects that enable learners to check their knowledge and understanding while providing instructors with feedback on learner performance.

Chapter 15. Microlearning: Future Directions. A recent report addressing microlearning adoption trends in professional organizations, found that 40% currently used microlearning for professional development and training and an additional 41% planned to start in the near future (ATD Research, 2018). Is microlearning an effective instructional technology or a passing fad? As mobile technologies evolve, how will microlearning expand and adapt? How will artificial intelligence, mixed/virtual reality and virtual assistants like Siri, Google Play, and Alexa be impacting the learning experience in the next 3 – 5 years? This chapter will analyze current microlearning research and practices as well as trends in mobile, personalized, and adaptive learning to predict how microlearning may evolve in the next 5 to 10 years.

If you have written about e-learning, mobile learning, and/or microlearning, we invite you to contact us to discuss how you might be selected to write one of the afore-mentioned chapters. Please email me at rene.corbeil@utrgv.edu and include a recent vita.
