Online learning saves time for students. Students in online courses have 24/7 access to their course materials, other students, and their instructor. For working students, this is an incredible benefit. But we often hear that online learning takes a lot of an instructor’s time.

Also referred to as blended learning, hybrid learning is an educational approach where the traditional classroom is integrated with an online component. A web-based Learning Management System (LMS) contains curriculum and course materials, and ties the two learning environments (classroom + online) together. In a hybrid learning model, the teacher conducts lessons during scheduled class sessions and students are assigned independent study online. The student receives face-to-face instruction during class meetings, and then logs into the LMS for independent study (or virtual group collaboration) to continue their learning and to complete assignments.

Another report that essentially finds no significant difference between different modes of learning when variables are ‘properly’ controlled.
The value of this study is that it is properly randomized and controlled with a sufficiently large sample population to produce significant results. Unfortunately though it comes up with nothing new – most experienced researchers in the field would have predicted the result.

Here's a technology that any student can use to 'blend' the traditional lecture with online productivity tools.
Take notes and they are wirelessly uploaded to Evernote, along with a sync track of the lecture you're listening to. Very slick.
