Edith Durham took care of her sick mother after the death of her dad. It exhausted her and she went abroad to recuperate. This is why she went to southern Balkans and embraced their cause. She wrote several books, the most famous being High Albanis (1909). She studied the customs and the society of this fascinating area of the world.
