Alida Rodrigues, Angolan born and London based artist, works with portraits of people from mostly Victorian age photographs, on which she applies cut out images from botanical books. Building on a strong tradition of collage works from surrealism and onwards, these images with their simple and intimate gestures reflect just as much on time and colonialism as on issues of gender and our human condition.
