‘Mass Customized Learning’: The key to education reform? | Knowledge Management System (KMS) Blog | gpmt | Scoop.it

Would you still drive a car if it was the Ford Model T? No? Even if the paint was new and it had air conditioning? The answer would always be “no,” said one education reform expert, because no matter how much you spruce up an old model, there’s always a maximum capacity … and the same applies to education.

Supporting Innovative Teachers as Knowledge Generators

Supporting Innovative Teachers as Knowledge Generators | gpmt | Scoop.it

We need to start envisioning our teachers as knowledge generators and creative professionals whom we trust to innovate and implement unorthodox ideas that might transform teaching and learning. The time has come to reward innovation among our best and most creative teachers. They should be given the time and resources to reflect on their practice, experiment with new ideas, and implement strategies to more effectively engage learners.

Content Curation - Best Practices

Content curation has become a hot topic in 2012.

Corrine Weisgerber, an associate professor at St. Edwards University, has an excellent presentation on content curation.

She differentiates content curation from content aggregation--content aggregation can be automated but content curation requires the human touch for finding, evaluating and contextualizing information.

The Innovation Mismatch: "Smart Capital" and Education Innovation | gpmt | Scoop.it
Editor's note: This post is part of a three-week series examining educational innovation and technology, published in partnership with the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University.

If we can match highly-effective educators with great entrepreneurs and if we can direct smart capital toward these projects, the market for technological innovation might just spurt from infancy into adolescence.

That maturation would finally bring millions of America's students the much-touted yet much-delayed benefits of the technology revolution in education.
