For as long as I have been a teacher, I have been showing videos in class. While not a revolutionary idea, back when I first started I would show a video related to the lesson and hand out an accompanying question sheet to make sure the students were focusing on the main ideas. I would call out helpful reminders like “Number 3 is coming up!” to ensure that students were paying attention. They were not.

Being able to search for specific topics on Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, or Drawings can save to time. This allows to pinpoint a topic in the format you may be looking for. As we know teachers are pressed for time and knowing this cool way to search for what you need is great. This can also be quite useful to teach to students as they are researching topics.

I have my students work in Collaborative Learning Groups (CLG’s). I learned this from the amazing Jackie Gerstein. I intentionally design collaboration activities that they will do with their CLG.
