Fehren-Schmitz et al. sequence low-coverage genomes of three pre-European-contact
and two post-European-contact individuals from Rapa Nui (Easter Island, Chile). They
find that the pre-European-contact Rapanui individuals fall well into the genetic
variability of prehistoric and modern Polynesian populations and show no admixture
with Native Americans.
