Social reputation and social influence are becoming as important (if not more important) than your paper-based CV and your real-world network. But can they be empirically measured, and if so, what does your score actually mean? This article gives an overview of some of the products/services that purport to give you an influence score. Whether you take it seriously is entirely up to you!

An interesting play on words ... clout vs Klout. It's so easy to count your social connections when those connections are made via technology. This basic question, "What's your number?" could be presented to 8th-9th graders at the start of a number theory unit and revisited throughout the unit. |

Influencers on social media are either passionate individuals who turn out to be specialists or professionals involved who use Web 2.0 tools as part of their work. They take advantage of their presence on social networks for personal gain or as representative (or ambassador) a brand, company or organization. |
