8 Tips For Making The Most Of Your RSS Feed

8 Tips For Making The Most Of Your RSS Feed | information analyst | Scoop.it

I’m on a FeedBurner roll at the moment. Yesterday I showed you how you can tweet out new posts using FeedBurner. And today I thought it would be good to run through all of the useful settings that FeedBurner has to offer. If you’re not a FeedBurner user (hint: you really should be), I’m afraid that the majority of this article is not for you.

It took me rather a long time to realize that there is a lot more to FeedBurner than meets the eye. I would typically register a blog with the service and move on with my day. But it’s worth spending a few minutes on your options.

Before you make a start on the tips below, make sure that you have followed the step by step FeedBurner signup process I laid out in this post...

Compare & Find Best Free Solutions

Compare & Find Best Free Solutions | information analyst | Scoop.it
CatchFree makes it easy to compare and find the best free online solution for your specific need.

Resources like CatchFree are indispensable at a time in which the creation and release of applications has become more and more democratized, and even people whose technical understanding is not really advanced can create an app and get it out without really over-exerting himself. While such a thing might not be bad from a competitive point of view, it is bad to consumers inasmuch they end up downloading/buying apps that are up to no good. Well, that is what CatchFree is here to prevent from happening. It is a community where people can recommend the best apps that they have tried, and tell the world at large why they are a cut above the rest.

These applications that are more widely-loved are all highlighted on the homepage, and they are actually arranged by popularity - the ones that have received the best ratings all sit on top.

This community site can be joined by any person who has a story to tell - registration is inexpensive, and it is over in two or three minutes.

HI Martin.
Thanks for sharing.
I really like the new Twitter embed feature. Unfortunately, I must note that it does not work well for text-to-speech because It constantly repeats the original tweet. Tiny flaw. More importantly, there is some great wisdom in this articles.

25 Google+ tips and tricks

25 Google+ tips and tricks | information analyst | Scoop.it

Google+ unveiled itself to the public amidst a chorus of praise and adulation from techies all over the globe. Unfortunately, it also earned a good amount of scorn from individuals who were not ready to grasp the unique philosophy Google+ was promoting. That philosophy is one of openness.

Unlike Facebook, Google+ is designed to connect strangers, and inspire collaboration and contribution. It has proven to be an amazing platform for promoting ideas, brands and people.

Since its early rollout, Google+ has forced competitors to begin evolving, inspiring platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to develop new ways of thinking about social media and the functionality they offer.

ThinkUp 1.0: Reclaim your tweets and Facebook posts

ThinkUp 1.0: Reclaim your tweets and Facebook posts | information analyst | Scoop.it

Expert Labs has released version 1.0 of ThinkUp, a program that lets people archive, search, and analyze their activity on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

And if you ask me, this is a big deal.

ThinkUp, the free, open-source brainchild of programmer and Lifehacker founder Gina Trapani, keeps track of what you've done online. It extracts the data from the walled gardens that house more and more of people's digital lives then replants it in your own garden.

The app isn't simple to install, unfortunately. You need some server administration skills so you can host ThinkUp on your own Web server or run it on an instance of Amazon's EC2 cloud-computing service. (More on that point later.)...

Using Google+ Ripples to Connect with Influencers

Using Google+ Ripples to Connect with Influencers | information analyst | Scoop.it

Two weeks ago today, Google released “Ripples” for Google+ and most of the world went on with their daily activities. Personally I thought it was just another one of those features that was interesting but nothing I could really use. That was until this Whiteboard+ video which I filmed with Rand. Both Rand and I were blown away at the amount of data a Ripple gives you and what you can do with it.

What is a Ripple

The definition of a “ripple effect” is: a spreading effect or series of consequences caused by a single action or event. When it comes to Google+ a Ripple is an interactive diagram that shows how a Google+ post spreads as it’s shared by users. You can find the Ripple of any public post using the dropdown to the right of the post...
