Technology has changed not only the how we work, but also has included some new skills in the world. It means that an adult will learn a new world wide movement that could be difficult. Therefore, it will be the responsibility off any facilitator to orientate adults in the processes of acquiring the new skills required by the technological world.

There are 3 aspects that the authors of this article deals with:

 1) Every day more companies have been being moved by the technology, and many of adults have been outside of this progress by the lack of education.
 2) Nowadays many universities are implemented programs or courses of science and technology for adults.
3) Several universities have been implemented ways of carrying education for any adult. It means that they rare trying to facilitate the education access and advantage for adults.

As facilitators, we must guide the adult learner during the process of new technology and new skills to provide them opportunities of being part of the new technological society

What is Adult Learning Theory and Why Is It Important?

What is Adult Learning Theory and Why Is It Important? | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
We often take for granted that people know how to learn. After all, we all had to learn while in school, right? But that can be a dangerous attitude to take when it comes to corporate training initiatives. School curricula are built on theories about how children and teenagers learn (and how much time they can dedicate to learning). Have you ever considered whether adults learn in the same way? (Spoiler: They don’t!)

How Understanding The Adult Learning Theory Benefits eLearning Development

How Understanding The Adult Learning Theory Benefits eLearning Development | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
We tend to think of adults as being able to sit and absorb boring presentation after presentation. In truth, that’s just as ineffective as it would be for a toddler. Adult learning theory is a way into the minds of adults and getting there can help you create better eLearning for your employees.

How to Learn New Things as an Adult

How to Learn New Things as an Adult | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Quick, what’s the capital of Australia? No Googling! (And no points if you’re Australian—that means the information is more meaningful to you, which means you’re more likely to know it). Did you get it? Or are you sure you learned it at some point, but forgot right around the time that you forgot how the Krebs cycle works? In his new book, Learn Better, author and education researcher Ulrich Boser digs into the neuroscience of learning and shows why it’s so hard to remember facts like that one. Boser explains why some of the most common ways we try to memorize information are actually totally ineffective, and he reveals what to do instead.

Focus on Adult Learning Principles For a Successful E-learning Course!

Focus on Adult Learning Principles For a Successful E-learning Course! | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

"Adults need to know how the course is relevant to them. They are inclined to learn only when they think the time and efforts they invest in learning is worth the outcome. E-learning courses that state initially what’s in it for the learner, best address the adult learning principle of communicating the course relevance."

The first report commissioned by Ufi Charitable Trust investigates opportunities for and barriers to the application of digital technology to adult learning.

Scaling Up: achieving a breakthrough in adult learning with technology was compiled following research including 142 phone and online questionnaires and 36 in-depth interviews with researchers, business people, learning professionals and civil servants.

Focusing on possible ways to transform the UK’s vocational education and training system, report authors Adrian Perry, Clive Shepherd, Dick Moore and Seb Schmoller were able to identify three main priorities for funding:

* Increasing the capability of those involved in running the vocational learning system

* Exploiting networks to bring together learners, learning content and learning professionals

* Harnessing computers to support individualised and differentiated learning

"As a tool for change, EAEA has published ‘Manifesto for Adult Learning in the 21st Century’. It sets objectives for creating a Learning Europe: a Europe that is able to tackle the future positively and with all necessary skills, knowledge and competences. Updated manifesto was published in the beginning of 2019. "

“Manifesto for Adult Learning in the 21st century: The Power and Joy of Learning” is a PDF document that has an extended introduction of some concepts and considerations about adult learning. I would take the risks of saying that this document will help any teacher interested in the andragogy field to know: the principles, recommendations, international policies, etc. Moreover, this material can help a professor who will teach andragogy to form new educators in this theme.

As an extra point: this document was developed by Publisher: European Association for the Education of Adults – EAEA and supported by The European Commission, which are two entities of great reputation.

Do Adults Learn Differently Than Students?

Do Adults Learn Differently Than Students? | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
There are many similarities to adults and students when it comes to learning. If you were an auditory learner in school, you probably still prefer that learning method [1]. If you were a verbal learner you still prefer that. Adults are able to learn from additional styles as they know what they need to pick out from training, and they know the impact it will have on their job if they do not. The motivation to learn is more relevant to adults than it is to students, but trainers need to be aware of learner preferences.

– Confidence gap? The impact of gender, class and age on adults’ digital literacy | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Gendered life patterns and socialisation may negatively affect women’s confidence in using digital technology – particularly older women with lower socio-economic status. These are some of the findings from two reports carried out by Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, and the Good Things Foundation, into digital inclusion and literacy. In this post Kate Gilchrist asks what this means for how parents and grandparents support their children in a digital age and argues that policy makers must take such factors into account. Kate is the editor of the Parenting for a Digital Future blog and is a PhD researcher in the Media and Communications department at LSE.
