Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path

Chances are you spend a lot of your computing time inside a browser window, and quite possibly inside a Chrome tab; Google's browser has come from nowhere in 2008 to dominate the browser landscape on desktop and mobile.

During a workshop that I was leading this week someone asked me how she could remove some of the extension icons that were displayed in her Chrome browser.

Below is a list of some popular add-ons to use with your Google Docs.  The add-ons will empower you with a wide array of functionalities that are not readily available in Docs. Some of these include: integrate various accents into your docs, provide students with audio feedback, create and insert different types of charts and diagrams into your docs, use speech recognition to write your docs, build charts from data in your Google Sheets, and browse a large gallery of professionally designed templates.

Speech to text technologies allow you to transcribe your speech into text in a couple of clicks. Most of the established platforms integrate this kind of technology. For instance Google has it integrated with some of its services like Google search. You can click on the mic icon in the search bar and start speaking, Google will automatically type in your speech and run your query.
