Throughout the Autumn Term, the Academic Liaison Team have been using the online quiz software Kahoot in Induction talks and workshops. I have used it in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching sessions and have found that it offers an interesting and engaging option for delivering information about the Library and Information Literacy to students studying at all levels and stages.

Earlier this week I attended an exchange of experience event on inductions at De Montfort University. It was organised by Kaye Towlson and based on the TeachMeet model.

The session began with speed networking and thought share bunting, or analogue Twitter, where we could easily share our ideas throughout the event.

This week’s topic was inspired by discussions during the #LTHEchat 63. Students begin their university journey on our campuses, physical and virtual, at induction events. Topics include; academic essay writing, plagiarism, referencing and information literacy to name but a few. However, technology has significantly added to this list with the need to add the Virtual Learning Systems, communication channels, eportfolios, student information systems and e-assessment software to the list. Recently, this has widened even further to cover online identities, social media and professionalism, copyright and critical analysis of online resources and information.
