Every now and then I come across sites which are really useful for dipping into for visuals and can be shared with colleagues and students alike. Below are some suggestions.

Images speak louder than words. We all have recourse to images as visual aids in our teaching but the search for such images is not always an easy one. Most often, you spend a decent amount of time looking for pictures only to be disappointed that they are copyrighted . This is where the importance of having a ready made list of public domain image sources comes in handy.

A few days ago I posted here a list of some useful digital resources teachers can use to obtain copyright friendly pictures and today am adding another equally important resource. Pics4learning is a safe, free image library for education. Teachers and students can use the copyright-friendly photos and images for classrooms, multimedia projects, web sites, videos, portfolios, or any other project in an educational setting.

The only site I'd watch out for would be Google Images-as I rarely use it. Why? Even using Advanced Search, I've seen many images listed as "free to use and share" which are really copyrighted images others have used incorrectly on their web sites. Â
