Capturing those golden nuggets of information: the art of digital curation

Capturing those golden nuggets of information: the art of digital curation | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
I always used to save items of interest that I happened upon online as favourites. However despite creating folders, in using this system I found retrieving something became harder and harder and I was not always able to find what I was looking for. Add the fact that I tend to use commuting time to and from work to access information via my phone, I was initially sending items by email, to then have to add them as favourites once I got back to my desk top.

Free Technology for Teachers: Pearltrees - Visually Organize and Share Collections of Files and Links

Free Technology for Teachers: Pearltrees - Visually Organize and Share Collections of Files and Links | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Pearltrees is a visual bookmarking tool that I first tried nearly five years ago. Over the years it has changed in response to feedback from its users. One of those changes was a transition from free-form webs of related files and links to its current format of visual squares and folders.

6 Great tools for content curation - Daily Genius

6 Great tools for content curation - Daily Genius | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

I read recently that content curation is dead. I have a few different arguments against this concept, but for now, I’ll keep it short and sweet: Content curation is not dead, and while the debate over curating content online vs creating new content will rage on and on, curating content for other reasons is still going strong.

I also agreee with this issue as good references are still a must.  Probably, we'd  stick to great curation features: short, simple and useful. Curation tools are smart mainly for two purposes:  the basic, to share only best quality  content on the web and secondly to release good content you've already produced.  The only hiccups is to be honest enough to publish only best  quality stuff.
