10 EdTech Resource Lists for Teachers | Getting Smart

10 EdTech Resource Lists for Teachers | Getting Smart | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Having worked as a teacher for years, I am impressed by how rapidly technology is changing classroom teaching and learning experience.

Countless EdTech tools have been created to make educators’ lives easier, and I’m excited to see the even more innovative and intelligent products that will be developed, even as soon as in the next year.

For example, last year EdTech Magazine reviewed a few trends like Virtual Reality (VR), 3D printing and wearable devices that could affect classrooms in both K–12 and higher education—and in reality it’s already happening.

Knowing and Recommending Edtech Tools (even when you might not use them) – Blended Librarian | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Perhaps your institution has a teaching with technology event. Mine does. Once a year. One of the presentationss on the program that always gets a good turnout is our faculty colleague who shares her top 20 tech tools in 40 minutes. In addition to being a fun way to learn some new technology applications, most of the attendees use it as a check on their own “up-to-dateness” with edtech. You’ll hear folks saying things like “Yep, know that one” or “Heard about it – haven’t had a chance to try it yet”. Our colleague is always hoping to find a few that take us all by surprise. The campus tech symposium is just one way we can find out about new edtech, teaching apps and more.

57 learning technology tools one middle school teacher depends on, such as Kidblog, Dropbox, VoiceThread, Educreations, etc.

With all the websites, mobile apps, and desktop programs available to teachers out there, it can be exasperating to know how to use them. Most busy teachers simply ask colleagues in their department or the teacher’s lounge. Or the resident technology integrator, if your school is lucky enough to have one.

But what if you have already tried those avenues? Or don’t have them available? Fortunately, there are a few resources online that you can use. There is Twitter and its various teacher hashtags, social media sites for teachers, or edshelf’s collections.

Below is one such collection. It is curated by Mrs. J. Porritt from W.S. Hawrylak School. Generously included are notes for each of the tools she uses in her classroom. If you are looking for a new tool, or want to know more about an existing tool, check out her useful collection of teaching tools.

The 22 Digital Skills Every 21st Century Teacher Must Have| Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

One of the most popular articles I have written in this blog was about the 33 Digital Skills Every 21st Teacher should Have. This post has been used in several digital literacy courses in some universities in the States and also here in Canada, I also got it published in a couple of printed journals .
