Some Good Presentation Tools for Teachers and Students

Some Good Presentation Tools for Teachers and Students | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
As a teacher chances are you have already created a presentation of some sort or presented in front of an audience (e.g., in a conference, at school…etc). A Non-Designer’s Guide to Creating Memorable Visual Presentations [Free E-Book]

A Non-Designer’s Guide to Creating Memorable Visual Presentations [Free E-Book] | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
If you’re like most people, you’ve probably created dozens of presentations in your lifetime, and many of these in just under a few hours.

But ask yourself: Do you really know how to design a memorable presentation that will stick in your viewers’ minds for months, even years to come?

Perhaps the closest we have ever come to crafting a visual message is a PowerPoint presentation full of bullet points, overused stock photos and bland color schemes.

Four Steps to a Lightning Talk

Four Steps to a Lightning Talk | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Lightning talks are all the rage right now. They're a short-form presentation talk usually lasting around three to five minutes. Everyone who is asked to give a presentation must then ask themselves whether they should use a program to enhance their presentation. The presentation program that we are all probably most familiar with is Microsoft PowerPoint. The next time you are preparing a presentation that puts you behind the podium or up on a stage, first consider whether a presentation program should be used. Remember, PowerPoint is a visual tool that should enhance the topic of your presentation – not be the main focus of the presentation.

10 PowerPoint Tips to Make Your Presentations More Effective

10 PowerPoint Tips to Make Your Presentations More Effective | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
The design of your PowerPoint presentation is often underestimated. Everyone knows the saying, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, however in PowerPoint-land it seems to be quite the contrary. ‘A thousand words are worth a picture’ seems a more fitting slogan. Slides are filled to the brim with text, which the presenter literally reads out loud. This is the reason why PowerPoint has a dusty and static image. A missed opportunity!

How To Easily Create ELearning Videos from Microsoft PowerPoint

How To Easily Create ELearning Videos from Microsoft PowerPoint | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

"there are many ways you can integrate PowerPoint into any elearning program. It can be a simple PDF that someone interacts with, or you could use a program like Articulate Presenter to transform that presentation into an interactive, online asset. But what if you just need something “in between”? You don’t have the resources to invest in a program like Articulate, but you want more from your presentation than a rather static PDF.

Well, one possible option is to record yourself giving the presentation. Using a free tool like Screencast-o-Matic allows you to record your screen and then instantly save the video locally or upload to a platform like YouTube."

Shaona Williams's curator insight, December 8, 2015 1:27 AM

First the question comes, why do we need videos in an eLearning course? A video is shot once and can be used in a million other ways. A single video can be translated into other languages; the great thing about videos is that it has a cross-culture appeal and can have one or varied audiences at the same time.
