The academic language employed in scholarly journals and scientific manuals is radically different from the  casual variety you come across everyday in blog posts and newspaper articles. This difference is manifested in different stylistic and lexical aspects. This is probably why many sophomores taking their beginning research methodology course find it hard to compose in such a variety and most often it takes them a lot of practice and reading to acquire the new style.

A Master’s Thesis or Doctoral Dissertation is the capstone of many graduate programs. It requires a monumental amount of effort to put together the original research, citations, and sheer writing time to finish. Many students cruise through their master’s and PhD coursework without breaking a sweat, only to be stonewalled when it comes time to write a long, in-depth dissertation that contributes original material to the student’s chosen field. Bluntly, finishing a thesis or dissertation is hard, and nobody can do it alone. These websites are the best resources available online to those who need to buckle down and finish a Master’s Thesis or Doctoral Dissertation.

Cornell University - Digital Literacy Resource | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Digital literacy is the ability to find, evaluate, utilize, share, and create content using information technologies and the Internet. As a Cornell student, activities including writing papers, creating multimedia presentations, and posting information about yourself or others online are all a part of your day-to-day life, and all of these activities require varying degrees of digital literacy. Is simply knowing how to do these things enough? No—there’s more to it than that.

6 Great Academic Groups for Teachers and Student Researchers ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

The technology I blog about has helped me not only in my teaching but also in my research as a graduate student in The Mount University, department of education. From note-taking to reference mining and data curation, technology has always been the magic stick I lean on to organize my digital workflow and increase my academic productivity. I know the majority of the readers of EducationalTechnology and Mobile Learning are related, in a way or another, to academia and several of you are graduate or post graduate students like me and this is why I sometimes I find myself obliged to sit down and share with my fellow academics the best technology tips and tools I discover and which can hep them in their academic endeavours.

Top 100 Websites for Academics and Research Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Being a graduate student makes your life ridiculously busy. On top of the work you do to feed yourself and pay your bills, you have stacks of piled books and PDF readings waiting you at home. I personally consider my situation advantageous since I have no other responsibilities (particularly family ones as I am living alone) to take care of except my work, studies and writing in this blog. Still sometimes I wish the day is 35 hours long to give me time to finish my assignments and scheduled readings, I wonder how those of you who are married and have kids , how do you balance your graduate studies, work and family?
