Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path

As a reporter, I have to read a lot of articles every day, and I often can’t get around to all the tabs I open by the time I clock out. It’s frustrating as hell,  and I’ve been looking for a solution to clear my reading queue.

Thankfully, I came across Podcastle, a Chrome extension that solved all my problems. On the surface, it’s just a text-to-speech converter — and there are many of them out there — but it comes with extra bells and whistles that are actually useful.

Edge is Microsoft's web browser that replaced their classic Internet Explorer. Edge has a lot of handy features including a customizable read-aloud function. The read-aloud function has been available in the Windows version of Edge for quite a while.

Podcastle is a text to speech Chrome extension that allows you to convert text into podcasts. This is an ideal tool for multitaskers who would rather engage in various tasks in realtime. Whether it's your favourite blog posts, news articles, or any other textual content from the web  (barring PDFs), Podcastle enables you to enjoy listening to your favourite digital content while working on other things.
