A Wonderful Tool to Help You Reduce Eye Strain Caused by Long Exposure to Digital Screen | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Flux is a tool I come across while I was reading Shawn Stevenson's book Sleep Smarter (Amazon affiliate link). Shawn mentions it among the tools he recommended to help people reduce the mental and physical strain induced by long exposure to digital devices. Flux helps alleviate from the eye strain caused by sustained exposure to the light coming out from our digital screens. What it actually does is that it regulates the colors of the display of your computer so that the display "adapts to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.""

Here's another response to a question I received from participants during the recent webinar I presented for EDEN. You can watch the entire webinar on YouTube at this link. The question is one of several I couldn't answer in full because of time constraints, so here is the question again with a few additional thoughts:

A major challenge at the moment, especially for teachers, but also translated to students, is keeping up with the curriculum. This limits the possibility of allowing students to learn on their own and finding their own path of learning. This period could be a window of opportunity in personalised learning, in finding students finding "their own pathway." How do you create a balance?

How Bibliotherapy Can Help Students Open Up About Their Mental Health | MindShift | KQED News | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Mental health concerns, like anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, can affect a student’s ability to concentrate, form friendships and thrive in the classroom. Educators and school counselors often provide Social and Emotional Learning programs (SEL) in order to help these students, as well as school-based therapeutic support groups. However, even in these forums, getting teenagers to speak about their problems can be challenging, especially when they feel like outsiders and worry about judgment from their peers.
