How to record the screen on your iPhone in a few easy steps

Julian Chokkattu/Digital Trends
Want to show your non-tech-savvy relative how to set up their email without actually having to do it for them?  Since iOS 11, Apple has offered a native option to record the screen on the iPhone, iPad and iPod. What once required a third-party app has become stunningly simple.

A Better Way to Access the Camera from iPhone Lock Screen in iOS 10

A Better Way to Access the Camera from iPhone Lock Screen in iOS 10 | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

"Ever since Apple redesigned the iOS lock screen to remove swipe-to-unlock and require users to press the Home button instead, some iPhone users have discovered that accessing the Camera from the lock screen might be a challenge. The potentially difficult scenario is this; if you press the Home button to show the locked display which you would then swipe to access the iPhone Camera from, pressing the Home button also unlocks the iPhone and skips the lock screen with the camera access. I recently ran into someone who was convinced this set of actions meant their iPhone lock screen camera wasn’t working or no longer existed, so the behavior can lead to some degree of confusion as well.

Fortunately there’s a better way to access the iPhone camera from the lock screen in iOS 10 and newer, and it doesn’t involve using the Home button at all."

Samantha Sicard's curator insight, October 11, 2021 2:27 PM
Not all photographers are going to have a fancy, expensive camera with them everywhere they go. However, they will have their cellphone with them at all times. Penxy - stream and record your presentations | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

Penxy is the easiest way to control and deliver your presentations from your iPad or iPhone during a real event. You can seamlessly stream your presentations (including your voice) online. Better yet, you can record your presentation so that you can share it with your social networks.

Baiba Svenca's insight:

Penxy turns your iPad or iPhone into a remote control for your presentations, and it does more than that. You can also record your presentation with your voice comments. It lets you engage your audience in polls during your presentation.

How The iPhone 5S Could Be The Universal Remote For Your Life ~ readwrite

How The iPhone 5S Could Be The Universal Remote For Your Life ~ readwrite | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

by Dan Rowinski

"Take the just-announced iPhone 5S, for example. It will support both Bluetooth Smart and Wi-Fi Direct, and has capabilities built in to perform new functions such as AirDrop local sharing. Behind it stands Apple's thriving ecosystem, which will continue to churn out new apps that take advantage of those functions. All that makes the iPhone 5S not just Apple’s latest and greatest device, but one of the first devices available that has the potential to be a true universal remote."

Jim Lerman's curator insight, September 13, 2013 9:54 AM

I agree with Rowinski. The advent of the 5S, combined with iOS7, places us clearly on the cusp of quantum leap ahead, as our phones move to become the unversal remotes for the very soon to arrive internet of things.

Photon Flash Player & browser for iPad app review ~ appPicker

Photon Flash Player & browser for iPad app review ~ appPicker | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

by Rebecca MacLary

"Photon Flash Player for iPad, also called Photon Browser, by Appsverse Inc. is a great alternative browser for your iPad. It’s on sale right now, marked down to just $4.99, so get it now and save yourself five dollars.

"Photon Browser is a fantastic new browser with Flash capability. It was designed to enhance your experiences on your iPad, and it succeeds. The app is the #1 paid browser in the U.S. App Store and #1 in utilities for the iPad.

"Some of the features of Photon Browser include Flash browsing support that lets you use Flash apps, play Flash games, and watch and listen to Flash videos. You can also view websites that previously would not play on the iPad due to Flash content.

You can use multiple views or tabs while browsing, just like in Chrome or Firefox, split your screen to watch a video on one side and browse on the other, or browse using your full screen. You can also do trio mode and picture-in-picture viewing modes.

"The browser is full-featured, with private browsing, the ability to share via Facebook or email, an intelligent URL toolbar, and anonymous browsing.  It also offers bookmark support, AirPrint to print off web pages, and forward/back buttons for browsing history.

"You must click on the Lightning Bolt icon in order to view Flash sites."

"YouTube Capture is definitely a must have iPad app for teachers and students. This app is developed by Google and, unlike the basic YouTube app, YouTube Capture allows users to record videos and upload them instantly and right from their iPad or phones and Instagram.

"Some of the fantastic features that distinguish YouTube Capture from the rest of crowd is the fact that it allows users to make use of YouTube’s stabilization, trimming, and automatic colour correction features – something that other video upload apps don’t. Another perk is the time limit which isn’t just a few seconds. In fact, you can record as long as your typical YouTube video would last, so all you really need to worry about is your Internet speed. Furthermore, you can upload and simultaneously share your videos with nearly all social media services as you go."
