Looks like a great way to put the VR headset to use. You can also use it just with your normal screen. You'll need to download Steam first though. Enjoy.

Building Skills for All in Australia - Policy Insights from the Survey of Adult Skills - en - OECD

Building Skills for All in Australia - Policy Insights from the Survey of Adult Skills - en - OECD | Literacy -LLN not to mention digital literacy in Training and assessment | Scoop.it
Data, policy advice and research on Australia including economy, education, employment, environment, health, tax, trade, GDP, unemployment rate, inflation and PISA.,

Australia’s overall performance in the Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC) ranges from average to very good. However, three million adults, representing one-fifth of the working age population, have low literacy and/or numeracy skills. Building Skills for All in Australia describes the characteristics of the low-skilled and discusses the consequences that low skills have on economic and social development for both individuals and Australian society. The review examines the strengths of the Australian skills system, highlighting the strong basic skills found in the migrant population, widespread proficiency in use of ICT and the positive role of workplaces in skills development. The study explores, moreover, the challenges facing the skills system and what can be done to enhance basic skills through education, training or other workplace measures. One of a series of studies on low basic skills, the review presents new analyses of PIAAC data and concludes with a series of policy recommendations. These include: increasing participation of women in STEM fields, addressing underperformance of post-secondary VET students and preventing drop-out, improving pre-apprenticeships, enhancing mathematics provision within secondary education and tackling poor access to childcare facilities for young mothers.

Redefining Readiness: New Literacies

Readiness has become a popular way to describe the mission. Are our students ready? Many like college and career ready. Others like Future Ready. I like ‘ready for anything” because that’s truly what all of our students need.

In Part 1 of Redefining Readiness, I focused on Pedagogy and Courses. For Part 2, let’s go beyond and focus on new literacies.

European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators: DigCompEdu

European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators: DigCompEdu | Literacy -LLN not to mention digital literacy in Training and assessment | Scoop.it

As the teaching professions face rapidly changing demands, educators require an increasingly broad and more sophisticated set of competences than before. In particular the ubiquity of digital devices and the duty to help students become digitally competent requires educators to develop their own digital competence.

Google Extends Digital Literacy Training to Teachers

Google Extends Digital Literacy Training to Teachers | Literacy -LLN not to mention digital literacy in Training and assessment | Scoop.it
Digital citizenship has stepped into the forefront of a modern-day education. Experts indicate that as schools roll out tech, they also need to be rolling out digital citizenship education.

Tech giant Google heeded that call and partnered with experts to launch Be Internet Awesome, an interactive campaign that educates students on how best to act on the internet.

One part of this Google campaign is Interland, a game that has students travel an imaginary world where they need to fight hackers, phishers, oversharers and bullies with digital citizenship skills. While game-based learning can be effective, educators also need to be armed with skills to teach their students to be citizens of the web.

This month, Google extended its Be Internet Awesome program to include a free online training course to help educators establish foundational skills needed to teach their students to have a safe and positive experience online.
