To believe the latest edition of the report "Measuring the Information Society" of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Luxembourgers are the best in the world in terms of digital skills. Indeed, Luxembourgers are considered the most qualified in the world in terms of basic digital skills (over 90%). Bearing in mind that the significant shortage of professionals in information and communications technology (ICT) in the European Union (EU) creates a bottleneck for economic growth, while educational institutions fail to provide a sufficient number of professionals with adequate ICT knowledge and skills demanded on the labour market, in December 2012, the European Commission (EC) announced the Grand Coalition Initiative for the Promotion of Digital Skills and Jobs, the aim of which is to implement the Digital Agenda for Europe and to solve this problem through concrete and coordinated actions of the public and private sectors, by increasing the number of ICT apprenticeships as well as to establish more direct links between education and business, to standardize qualification requirements and to achieve other goals that are pursued.
In order to achieve striking and positive changes at the national level as soon as possible, the EC invites National governments, education and training sectors, ICT companies and non-governmental organizations to join the coalition.
Through this Coalition, institutions, companies and organizations coordinating the promotion of a knowledge-based society in Luxembourg, promoting and developing digital skills of young people and the community at large and training ICT professionals agreed to form the National Digital Coalition for the Promotion of Digital Skills for Jobs in Luxembourg.

The workforce of today and tomorrow needs to be digitally savvy and enterprising. The Luxembourg Tech School is a project, which has been launched to train future digital leaders. Kick-starting innovative projects that benefit the country, Digital Lëtzebuerg - together with the Ministry of Education and the SCRIPT, supported the Luxembourg Tech School from day one.

On Tuesday 11 October 2016, Luxembourg’s National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD) and the Service for Media and Communication (SMC) held a conference on the main changes stemming from new data protection regulation.
The conference marked the start of a series of events especially designed in the framework of the Digital Lëtzebuerg initiative with the aim of presenting the new regulation to those concerned and guiding them in its implementation.
More than 500 people attended the conference at the Maison du Savoir at Esch-Belval, where the Prime Minister and Minister of Media and Communication, Xavier Bettel, discussed the challenges and opportunities provided by the new European regulation for Luxembourg. PM Bettel referred to it as “an adaptation to a new world, a world where technological innovation allows for important advances while also guaranteeing the respect of our fundamental principles.”
These new laws, which replace the 1995 directive of the same nature, will be directly applicable in all Member states of the European Union from 25 May 2018. The new regulation aims to give citizens more control over their personal data, give more responsibility to businesses whilst reducing their administrative costs, and also reinforcing the role of data protection authorities like CNPD.

Le DSP est une bonne idée et je l'utilise aussi. MAIS : il reste beaucoup à faire, surtout de le recréer pour devenir plus orienté vers le patient, l'utilisateur. Une première occasion de regrouper différents acteurs pour un état des lieux des difficultés connues mais aussi des initiatives engagées pour y faire face.
Après plusieurs conférences sur le thème des FinTech et autres technologies, c’est naturellement que l’APSI organisait une conférence sur le problème des eSkills nécessaires à ces dernières. Nico Binsfeld, CEO House of training, Administrateur du Centre de Compétences ICT – LID-IT, Vice-Président APSI, ouvrait la séance avec un état des lieux de la situation au Luxembourg : des difficultés tenaces comme le manque de vivier, des initiatives positives de formations sur tous les publics mais toujours beaucoup d’inquiétudes sur le court terme. La force du pays ? Avoir un gouvernement engagé qui ne lésine pas sur l’information et la sensibilisation de tous les publics.

(JB) Nearly a third of all internet users in Luxembourg have experienced a security issue while using the internet for personal use.
According to an IT-related survey, the results of which were published by STATEC on Tuesday, 31 percent of respondents reported a security breach during the first few months of 2015.
Among women, it was just over a quarter but the proportion was higher among men with 34 percent affected.

«C’est une bonne nouvelle, car ce texte est très attendu par pas mal de gens et des entreprises sont dans les starting-blocks pour réaliser de l’archivage électronique à une autre échelle», indiquait le député LSAP.
Les documents légaux dans un second temps
«Au-delà des centres d’hébergement de données hautement sécurisées au Luxembourg et l’excellente connectivité tant nationale qu’internationale du pays, le cadre légal moderne et pragmatique relatif à l’archivage électronique constitue un argument supplémentaire pour attirer de grandes entreprises cherchant à centraliser leurs archives électroniques dans un seul pays», s’est félicité le ministre de l’Économie Étienne Schneider à la tribune de la Chambre suite à l’adoption de la loi qui «s’inscrit parfaitement dans l’initiative commune ‘Digital Lëtzebuerg’ du gouvernement».

Dans le cadre des classes au LTC qui lance le projet Digital Classroom Lëtzebuerg, ce workshop aidera les équipes d'enseignants participants de mieux comprendre les possibilités de l'iPad en classe. Ils discuteront également le cadre pédagogique à mettre sur leurs classes respectives.
Objectifs de la formation
- Être en mesure de se servir à bon escient de tablettes numériques pour créer une réelle valeur ajoutée dans des contextes pédagogiques et didactiques divers
- apprendre à mettre en place des scénarisations didactiques permettant un apprentissage par compétences différencié.
- Cette formation est réservée aux enseignants participant au projet dans les lycées en question.
