More bad news for retail, more bad news for jobs. If John Lewis is retrenching, it begs the question "Who's next?"
That said, if it's in line with consumer preferences, then isn't this what the market dictates.
And watch out for the multiplier effects in the towns concerned. Those workers will be spending money in the surrounding area too.
