Recharge Industries is named preferred bidder for collapsed battery firm Britishvolt.

So beleaguered electric car battery manufacturer Britishvolt has been bought be an Australian firm owned by a New York business. So much for Britain's global trade aspirations.
But at least there's now some prospect of the Blyth gigafactory being built.

Bear with me, but an Australian firm, Recharge Industries, owned by a New York-based investment fund, Scale Facilitation, are buying the beleaguered UK battery company Britishvolt. However, whereas the start-up was originally intending to produce electric car batteries, it seems that they are going to produce batteries for energy storage and only then for high-end sports cars.
