It seems that the government is keen to bury this story, with the news that UK chip-design firm ARM is on the point of being sold by Japanese conglomerate, SoftBank to US chip giant Nvidia.
The Guardian sees this as a dereliction of duty - a failure to develop a coherent post-Brexit industrial policy - and raises the possibility that a UK giant could be sold off to the US. Equally, it wonders whether there's a role for the government to take a stake in the company, noting that we've already spent £400m investing in an untested satellite firm but don't seem willing to invest something similar in an establishing, world-leading industrial giant.
