Builders battle for supplies on back of Covid crisis and price increases

It seems that the latest sector to be hit by shortages of supply is construction, in part because of Covid, but tenfold increases in shipping costs are also making it harder for builders to import power tools, screws, fixings and timber. Worse still, port congestion is causing further issues.
That said, three quarters of building materials originate in the UK, so there are no grounds for panic just yet.
